Who is Mgag?
Mgag is a Malaysian media company that produces short videos and skits for the entertainment of the Malaysian public on social media. They are currently close to 700k likes on Facebook!
One day i received a call from someone claiming they are from Mgag. However i couldn’t piece the information together and i thought they are called ‘amgak’, ‘nget’ or ’emgek’. They proceeded to inquire about our mural services.
Everything came to light only when they sent me their company logo and then it struck me their name as ‘Mgag’.
This post is the story of their amazing mural wall in their office.
Inception
Mgag just moved into the office and wanted to rev up their environment. They came to me with only a few intentions in mind.
- They wanted to preserve their company cultures
- They wanted an environmental trigger that reminds them of their core values and culture
They had no ideas or anything to accomplished their intention or how their wall would look like. This for all intention, is actually a very good thing.
Prior to common practice, clients normally come up with ideas in mind or ready graphics.
However you must note that not every graphic is suitable for mural painting especially in a commercial perspective. There are a lot of different factors to take into consideration because it affects the business in various ways.
Here are the factors to take into consideration prior selecting a graphic from a commercial perspective:
- Does it align with your company core values?
- Is it coherent to the company’s public identity and perceived image?
- Does it resonate with your target audience?
Failure to adhere to the above consideration will result in mismatch and public confusion.
Therefore, it is crucial to speak to your designer pertaining this matter as they can advice you better.

Brainstorming
With every problem, there is a solution. The wall should act as a trigger for the people in the environment.
To accomplish this, Mgag decided to incorporate their company tagline into the wall as well as a trigger and reminder of why they do what they do and how they do everything every single day. It is also to remind them not to lose their identity over time.
To enhance the features of the wall, we started gathering ideas and items that represents their company culture. They took a few days to come out with items that was part of their company environment that triggered a certain responds from their people. The items examples are:
- Chicken rice
- Teddy bear
- Milo
- Camera
- Chocolate
- Laptop
Knowing that this items were part of their company culture, ideas start kicking in and they found this mural art online.
Each item incorporated was scrutinized by all members top to bottom on what would be left in, and what would be omitted. They are carefully selected based on their backstory, meaning, and company identity.
Mgag also have a unique culture where there are spoken lines that they use on a daily basis. This is where the idea of chat bubbles started to come in and we decided to incorporate their wall with chat bubbles.

“Silence on set!” – A phrase used everyday during filming
Our task is to then sketch out all the items into paper for our clients. Here are some examples of our sketches that made it and didn’t made it into the final design works.
At a point, when we realize that our design did not fit into the company image, we scrapped 70% of our works and started again from scratch.

The result
By the end of the day, after going through dozens of revisions to get the perfect representation of the wall, we settled down on the final design for Mgag.
The result was a simple yet strong and effective message.

“Making Malaysians’ Day A Better One!” – The Company Core Message.
The tagline is a strong conviction of what they aim to do best every single day for all Malaysian. Well done Mgag.
The wall was completed just in time for their company video tour.
It was a pleasure working with you guys. Hope our paths crossed again in the future.
